Tasked with creating a magazine cover and full spread based on something that represents our interests, I created “crude”, a magazine focused on sustainability in the rave scene.
The cover is an AI composite image referencing a childhood image of myself and a rubbish tip. Items 2 and 3 are from the double page spread focused on sustainable rave wear.
BRIEF: Create a magazine design project consisting of three main components: crafting a magazine layout for an existing article, developing an image-centric editorial piece featuring original visuals and suitable headlines/captions, and designing a front cover that encapsulates the magazine's overarching concept.> Article design featuring the bitmap adaptation of several works depicting struggle or bargaining in art.
> Image-lead editorial featuring the digital archival of a squat using a combination of image focus, LiDAR scan, and satirical AI pattern recognition motifs.

Brandon Reece Burcher is a British-Gibraltarian editorial designer, journalist, and the founder of UNDERWORLD Magazine.
His work largely focuses on themes of queer sexual liberation, sub-cultures, and navigating trauma through a satirical lens. Since 2021, he has worked in and around the adult entertainment and sex industry, initially as a bartender in London’s gay cruise bars, and now as a content creator capturing the rave and club scenes across Europe.
Since 2022, he has self-published his magazine UNDERWORLD, which platforms queer independent artists from Britain and beyond.
